CIIN inaugurates CIFMS

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria has inaugurated its Centre for Insurance and Financial Management Studies.
In a statement obtained from the CIIN on Sunday, the President, CIIN, Bola Temowo, said the massive financial support from individual and corporate donors towards the completion of the existing structures and facilities was a testimony of their belief in the potential of the college to provide world-class human capital development programmes for the insurance and financial services sector.

Temowo said that prior to the inauguration, a lot had been put in place to justify the development of a full-fledged college.
Some of these efforts, he said, included the employment of a rector qualified to deliver the goals of the company; the employment of other key personnel and the movement of all the old employees to the college campus.
The CIIN boss said the firm had registered the college as a subsidiary of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria for a full legal status to operate.
“Today’s inauguration follows four years of giant strides in actualising our dream of a college, conceived to change the face of insurance and financial management education in Nigeria,” Temowo said.
The immediate Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Fola Daniel, said the CIFMS is a value addition to the quest to better position the CIIN inthe industry.
He stressed it would herald a new era of improvement on services rendered by the institute not only for its future growth, but more importantly, for the development of the Nigerian insurance sector practitioners.
As the education arm of the industry, he said this was certainly a step in the right direction towards the attainment of the CIIN mandate, which was to breed and certify insurance professionals in the country.
According to him, it is NAICOM’s desire to superintend over an insurance industry that would be financially strong and viable with the right mix of professionals.
